As part of the Green Generative AI Hackathon, organized by the Programa Nacional de Algoritmos Verdes (PNAV), we presented our generative artificial intelligence solution: BOE Alert to key entities in the Spanish innovation ecosystem.
The proposal responds to a specific challenge facing the Ministerio para la Transición Ecológica y el Reto Demográfico (MITECO):
Reducing the time spent reading, analyzing, and acting on regulatory changes published in the Official State Gazette (BOE) in an environment of high regulatory demands.
Each new provision in the BOE can change action priorities in a matter of days. The manual process of reading and monitoring regulations is time-consuming, disperses resources, and can compromise institutional responsiveness. Furthermore, by its nature, any technological solution must ensure low energy consumption, aligned with the ministry's own sustainability principles.
Alerta BOE is an autonomous agent capable of automatically detecting, classifying, and summarizing relevant regulatory content in Official Gazettes (Boletín Oficial del Estado, BOE) and sending it directly to the responsible teams via email. The solution uses language models optimized to operate with a minimal energy footprint, ensuring speed, traceability, and efficiency without compromising the environment.
According to our calculations, this task can save up to an hour per person per day, significantly increasing reliability and reducing errors. This can translate into a 12.5% increase in productivity for employees dedicated to this task.
